Krosfyah (Leicester and Nottingham): workshops and live Soca performance
Firmly established as one of the world’s top Soca bands, Krosfyah ran workshops in Nottingham and Leicester this summer and performed live at a special International Carnival Showcase in Leicester, at Leicester Caribbean Carnival and at Nottingham Caribbean Carnival.
Some 15 band members were flown in from Barbados and then joined by vocalist Statement to run three-day workshops covering practical skills and techniques including use of sound equipment, stage performances, musicians' techniques etc,
The band has released nine successful albums and performed around the world over the past 15 years, including throughout the Caribbean and at events including Houston International Festival, in Boston, New York and Washington, at Chicago Caribbean Carnival, in Toronto and Montreal and at the He Antilliaanse Feesten Caribbean Festival In Belgium.
Krosfyah’s many awards include: 1994 The Nation Entertainment Awards - Band of The Year;
1994 Arts Support Alliance - Band of the Year 1994; 1995 The Nation Entertainment Awards - Band of The Year; 1995 National Cultural Foundation - Best Community Band 1995.
