Critical Meet
Three Cities Create and Connect Proposal fund supports a Festival of Art Debate.
In September 2006, an exciting new Festival of Art Debate, Critical Meet, provided events, opportunities and possibilities for artists to discuss their work, theory and curated projects. The aim of Critical Meet was to broaden the reach of debates that exist around art, and to increase the opportunities for artists and non-artists to experience contemporary art debate first hand.
In each city an event was held which included a lecture and panel discussion by leading, emerging and established artists, followed by a Group Crit for artists, curators and writers to discuss art and ideas in an informal situation. The focus of the three events was to specifically reflect the feel of each city’s art scene, to bring artists and audiences together from the three cities, and to promote cross city collaboration.
