South Asian Arts Kahani Diwali
The South Asian Arts Kahani Diwali programme was an artistic collaboration involving different South Asian arts organisations in Derby, Leicester and Nottingham, led by Surtal Arts, working in partnership with partners City Arts (Nottingham) and the Centre for Indian Dance in Leicester.
Internationally renowned artists from India and Europe visited the three cities for a series of professional performance, community and
educational residencies and master classes. The project finale was a major performance showcase in each city.

Venues for the 3 performances were:
1 November 2006 at Derby Assembly Rooms
2 November 2006 at Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham
3 November 2006 at Phoenix Arts, Leicester
Over 16 artists were involved in Kahani Diwali production and the performances were attended by over 1600 young children from Primary schools. There was also a series of workshops at schools delivering Rangoli and Diwali card making which drew over 1600 children also.
All the schools enjoyed taking part in the project and felt they knew more about the Festival of Lights than before.
