SPRING

The Proposal Fund has enabled Metro-Boulot-Dodo to present SPRING in an outdoor space in each of Derby, Leicester and Nottingham allowing local people to experience and enjoy SPRING, free of charge.

SPRING has now appeared in Derby, Leicester and Nottingham and approximately 4,000 people of all ages saw and enjoyed the exhibition.

The Three Cities Proposal Fund has enabled the addition of 5 new elements to the installation including:

  • Guard Dog - A toy dog in kennel at floor level with accompanying soundtrack
  • Squeezy Peas - Tactile fur lined squeezy toys
  • Valley of the Lost Dolls - A toy graveyard with various pieces of action toy in an undergrowth area
  • Blue Bells - Hanging bells painted blue
  • Watering Cans - Child size watering cans filled with various things to make sounds (e.g. rice and gravel)

SPRING is an interactive surreal garden in which small groups of adults and children can wander through the installation and be suddenly hit with a barrage of colours, sounds, sights and smells. Crazy paving that grumbles and barks, bickering bees, talking tree houses, claustrophobic moles and a secret tunnel leading to a forgotten space. It combines interactive technology, several sound installations, high quality visual production and Metro-Boulot-Dodo’s trademark quirky humour. The initial version of SPRING was premiered at Leicester Expo and to national critical acclaim at The National Theatre in London.
