A twice yearly magazine, (working title Tri-Pod) built on the high quality production values, creative work and participatory approach of the A Tale of Three Cities anthology.  The magazine included new commissioned writing from regional writers, a regular rotation of guest editors, profiles of established writers and was open to new writing about a wide range of subject matter.  It made a particular feature of talented young writers and gave writers of all levels and from all genres a new, ongoing platform for their creative work.

Copies of the magazine were distributed for free at festivals, libraries and key arts venues in the region to raise awareness of literature and the arts.
The title Tri-Pod conveyed the triangle of connection between the three cities, as well as a balanced, sturdy but also adaptable structure supporting the production and dissemination of new writing.  It also signaled the link to podcasts of new writing, which was published in the magazine and accessed through the Literature Development Network's website.

Podcasts are a revolutionary new way to gain access to writing and performance, downloaded via the internet through readily accessible technology.  Audio-clips like radio broadcasts, podcasts are simple and inexpensive to record. The Tri-Podcast featured the work of spoken word artists, interviews with established writers, book reviews and live ‘webcasts’ from literary events in the region.  The Tri-Podcast aimed to be a nationally significant podcast, providing an invaluable ongoing showcase for writers of all kinds based in the region.

Both creative outlets - podcasts and magazine - were used together to gather and disseminate excellent creative writing, raise awareness and interest in writers living and working in our cities and raise the overall profile of literature activities and resources.

The podcast is now available at www.tripodpodcast.com
