Classical Friction
The Classical Friction concert is based on a unique composition created by pioneering Asian and British beats Radio One DJ Bobby Friction (of Bobby and Nihal fame) and leading classical composer Peter Stacey, who was nominated in the Radio 3 composer of the year awards for 2004.
The duo have developed a fantastic new piece of music combining indo, Celtic and Arab influences, which is being performed live for the first time this summer at the Three Cities Urban Beats events by ViVA, the orchestra of the East Midlands, and Bobby Friction.

The concerts include a live DJ set by Bobby Friction, before the new work is performed.

The commission is accompanied live by a new dance performance choreographed specifically to accompany the Classical Friction sound. Simpatico, is the result of an artistic alliance between leading urban dance choreographer Leonard Jackson and traditional South Asian choreographer Balbir Singh. Simpatico plays with the diversity and accord of Classical Indian dance and Contemporary Hip-Hop, resulting in an innovative and exciting display of conflicting and harmonious rhythms.
