The Nanoplex

A unique small-scale arts centre in a caravan – the Nanoplex - has being created to bring host new short films, video installations and music to festivals across the three cities.

Nanoplex

Throughout 2005

Leicester-based creative company Bathysphere have developed this micro-sized cinema/arts centre inside a specially converted standard caravan, with full hi-tech sound and visual equipment and seating for up to 12 people.

The Bathysphere Nanoplex mobile moving image centre has certainly seen some action this summer, featuring at festivals and events in Leicester, Nottingham and Derby as part of the Three Cities initiative.

Audiences have enjoyed cutting edge surround sound moving image work produced by Bathysphere in collaboration with artists from each of the cities.  The Nanoplex has proved popular with a variety of people of all ages who have joined us at events including the Nottingham Mela and Riverside Festivals, Summer Sundae and Leicester's EXPO and Derby's Darley Park World Music Festival.

There has been much additional interest in the Nanoplex and its unique programme of work and Bathysphere are already talking about bookings for next year.  In the meantime, the Nanoplex is still touring the region and will be in Derby city centre this autumn as well as featuring at the Bathysphere Nights event at Phoenix Arts, Leicester on 21st October.
